I am a Baltimore-born and raised daughter of two Howard University alumni. I come from a family of HBCU scholars. Both of my parents were engineers.. I chose Howard University to have the most job opportunities as a Black woman in sport. I also decided I must know where I come from in order to determine where I am going.. I went for a loose ball in high school basketball tryouts. I tripped over my teammate and flew into a chair, breaking my leg. That season, I managed the team and fell in love with the business of sports.. I believe in the power of sports to create racial equity and change the world. The war against racism will be won in small battles. I believe my battle is to use something that the Black community loves, sports, to bring us closer to liberation.. I plan to work in player relations at the team or league level after I earn my Masters of Sports Management from Columbia University.. Drafting, researching, and conducting a survey on the intersection of race, sports, and politics in America. One of my survey questions were used in a survey to advise the President of the United States. Graduating with honors from college while having joined a sorority, managed the men's basketball team, run university-wide elections for 2.5 years, and studying abroad.Engaging my tutees (1st and 2nd grade) in one-on-one tutoring sessions that consist of tutor read alouds, alphabetic knowledge support, fluency exercises, student read alouds and practice with digraphs so that they read at grade-level.. Spring 2019 Initiate / Social Action Chair of Alpha Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. , President of the Howard NPHC Chapter.
