Ashton Edmunds

2021

Media + Entertainment

Ashton was born in Pensacola, FL, raised in Pittsburgh, PA, and eventually moved to Tallahassee, FL. He is the son of a two-time Troy University graduate and comes from a family of creatives. When deciding where to attend college, Ashton knew coming to Atlanta would open many doors for him; specifically, Clark Atlanta University has opened many of those doors. Choosing CAU was easily one of the best decisions he could have made. Telling stories through the lens of sports is something Ashton is passionate about and he knew journalism was the perfect way to do that. He grew up watching the legendary Stuart Scott, who inspired him to be a sports journalist. The way Scott delivered his stories is something that Ashton will never forget. He's kept at his craft because he realizes that everyone has a story to tell. He is currently deciding if he should go to graduate school or straight into the sports industry to achieve his goal of becoming a national NBA writer. Being named a Rhoden Fellow with ESPN's The Undefeated and the 2020 Georgia District College Brother of the Year are two of Ashton's proudest achievements.
