Description

The Donald M. Payne International Development Fellowship is a program designed to attract individuals interested in careers in international development to the Foreign Service. The program provides up to $96,000 in benefits over two years for graduate school, internships, and professional development activities.

Requirements and Qualifications

Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must be seeking admission to a two-year graduate program at a U.S. university
- GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale
- Demonstrated interest in international development and/or public service

Requirements:
- Must be available for training and orientation in Washington, D.C. prior to the start of the fellowship
- Must be available for service as a Foreign Service Officer for a minimum of five years following completion of the fellowship
- Must maintain satisfactory academic and professional performance throughout the fellowship

Eligibility:
- Must be a college senior or a graduate student
- Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale
- Must be seeking admission to a two-year graduate program at a U.S. university
- Must be available for training and orientation in Washington, D.C. prior to the start of the fellowship
- Must be available for service as a Foreign Service Officer for a minimum of five years following completion of the fellowship
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must demonstrate interest in international development and/or public service
